Who we are

Finding Hope Along the Mountain Trails

The Story of Lost Horizon Found

Lost Horizon Found Nepal Ministry began not as an institution, but as a friendship—a meeting of hearts drawn together by a shared love for the people of Nepal, a passion for creative expression, and a quiet calling to serve vulnerable communities. Grounded in Christian faith and driven by practical compassion, our work is dedicated to uplifting children, empowering young people, and celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of the Himalayas through education, mentorship, music, and storytelling.

Our journey is woven from the lives of three individuals. Pastor Santosh grew up in a home that blended Hindu and Buddhist traditions. From an early age, he possessed an extraordinary gift for music, playing the guitar with an expressive brilliance that could turn any room quiet. As a teenager working as a driver for a visiting Christian minister, Santosh was invited to play with the church band. There, he experienced a life-changing encounter with Jesus that reshaped his future. Following theological training in Delhi, Santosh returned to Nepal, married a young Christian woman from the Himalayan region, and felt called to invest his life in the next generation.

Together, Santosh and his wife rented a modest home in Kathmandu and opened the Children's Church. On the first day, there was no congregation—just open doors and open hearts. Slowly, neighborhood children began to arrive. Today, around fifty children gather regularly for after-school tutoring, warm and nutritious meals, instrument lessons, and organized sports, including soccer games on rented neighborhood pitches. Alongside this practical care, the children take part in regular Bible studies, discovering the love of Jesus while maintaining a natural, rooted respect for their families' Hindu and Buddhist heritages. Every child is welcomed with dignity, joy, and unconditional support.

Up in the Himalayan foothills lives Samuel, Santosh's brother-in-law. When Samuel was an infant, a severe illness threatened his life. In desperation, his parents sought prayer from a local pastor, and Samuel was miraculously healed. That turning point led his family into Christian faith—a decision that brought significant hardship and social ostracization in their home village before they found refuge in a supportive Christian community. Today, twenty-nine-year-old Samuel serves as a youth pastor and filmmaker, leading Shining Hill, a musical group of local teenagers who travel mountain paths to share original songs of hope, faith, and encouragement with remote communities.

Three years ago, their path crossed with JB Dai, an American missionary with fifty years of cross-cultural service and over four decades of experience as a filmmaker. Traveling into the Himalayas for youth gatherings, JB met Santosh and Samuel and was instantly moved by their humility, musical creativity, and devotion to their people. Over subsequent visits, shared prayers, and long conversations about art and service, an enduring partnership formed.

From that bond, Lost Horizon Found Nepal Ministry was born. Together, we blend social development with the creative arts. In addition to providing educational support, relief, and daily care to under-resourced families, we use our backgrounds in film and music to train young Nepalis in songwriting, audio production, filming, and editing. Our creative projects reflect our Christian hope while honoring the beauty, traditions, and resilience of the Nepali people.

We believe that lasting transformation begins with faithful presence and genuine friendship. We invite you to join us on this journey—to walk alongside the communities of Nepal, listen to their stories, and discover the hope rising across these mountain horizons.

The land we serve

The Himalayas

For thousands of years the Himalayas have held a profound significance for the peoples of South Asia, as their literature, mythologies, and religions reflect. Since ancient times the vast glaciated heights have attracted the attention of the pilgrim mountaineers of India, who coined the Sanskrit name Himalaya — from hima (snow) and alaya (abode) — for that great mountain system. In contemporary times the Himalayas have offered the greatest attraction and the greatest challenge to mountaineers throughout the world.

The ranges form the northern border of the Indian subcontinent and an almost impassable barrier between it and the lands to the north. They are part of a vast mountain belt that stretches halfway around the world from North Africa to the Pacific Ocean coast of Southeast Asia.

The Himalayas stretch uninterruptedly for about 1,550 miles (2,500 km) from west to east — from Nanga Parbat at 26,660 feet in the Kashmir region to Namjagbarwa Peak at 25,445 feet in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. Between those extremities lie the two Himalayan countries of Nepal and Bhutan.

Bordered to the northwest by the Hindu Kush and the Karakoram, and to the north by the high Plateau of Tibet, the Himalayas span between 125 and 250 miles from south to north — covering a total area of roughly 230,000 square miles. This is the world we have been called into.

Two Callings, One Mission

Mission and Community Work

We partner with local Nepali believers to bring clean water, education, medical care, and the Gospel to communities that the world has largely forgotten. Every project is rooted in relationship, led by local leaders, and sustained by prayer.

Film and Storytelling

We believe stories change minds and open hearts. Our documentary films and YouTube content bring the beauty and need of Nepal's Himalayan communities to audiences around the world — creating awareness, building community, and funding the work.

"We use film to take you somewhere you could never go — and show you people you could never forget."

What We Believe

1

Go to the hard places

The most remote, the most forgotten, the most unreached — that is where we feel most called.

2

Lead with relationship

We do not parachute in with solutions. We build trust over years, follow local leaders, and stay for the long haul.

3

Tell the truth beautifully

Our films do not sanitize poverty or manufacture emotion. We show what is real — and trust that reality is compelling enough.

4

Holistic transformation

The Gospel speaks to the whole person. We care about bodies and souls, communities and individuals, the present and the eternal.

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor."
